Where your assistant can live

Share link, website bubble, Telegram, Slack, Microsoft Teams and your own software — and what is honestly not supported.

Every place your assistant can live is a card in its Places tab. A card that this Toldo cannot offer says so on its face rather than letting you set something up that will not work.

Ready the moment you publish

Your assistant’s own web address. Anyone with the link can chat with it. Nothing to set up — send it, print it on a card, put it in your profile.

Your website

One line, pasted into your site just before the closing </body> tag. A chat bubble appears in the corner of every page it is on.

<script src="https://YOUR-TOLDO/widget.js" data-assistant="your-assistant" async></script>

Copy the exact line from the Places tab, with your assistant’s own name already in it. It is the only change your site needs; the chat itself runs in a frame of its own, so it cannot collide with your site’s styling. Developers: the options are in The website bubble.

You can connect it yourself

Telegram

You create the bot, so it is yours. In Telegram, message @BotFather, send /newbot, pick a name, and BotFather replies with a long code. Paste that code into the Telegram card.

Toldo checks the code, connects the bot and keeps the code sealed away. In a group chat, your assistant answers only when someone @mentions it or replies to it — it does not join in otherwise.

Someone has to set these up first

Slack

Slack needs a Slack app registered for this whole Toldo installation, which is a job for whoever runs it. Once that exists, your card shows Add to Slack and the rest is a normal Slack install.

In Slack your assistant answers direct messages, and in a channel it answers when @mentioned. Invite it to a channel with /invite. One assistant per Slack workspace: installing a second one from another assistant moves the workspace over to it.

Microsoft Teams

Also needs setting up for the whole installation first. Once it is available, you click Get my connect code, install the assistant in Teams, and send it connect followed by your code. That ties your Teams organisation to your assistant.

In a Teams channel, @mention it.

Your own software

If you have a website, an app or a help desk of your own, it can talk to your assistant directly. You make an access key in the Your own software card and your developer does the rest — see the API reference.

Not supported

Text messages, WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, email and phone calls are not supported.

That is a deliberate answer, not a roadmap. If your assistant is ever asked, it has been told to say so plainly rather than imply that something might be switched on.

Next: Collecting enquiries.
